The Dreamcoat Mercy Fund
Among the many services that Dreamcoat Quality Painting offers is one designed to support prison inmates? desire to develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. Most of this work takes place through prison Christian bible study groups, where inmates can focus on learning how the Old Testament laid the foundation for a Christian theology that is more fully revealed in the books of the New Testament. To accomplish this, bibles of a much better quality than simple reader editions are needed to show the complexities associated with texts originally written in Aramaic, Hebrew, or Greek with their English translation.
Good study bibles make clearer the words inspired by the Holy Spirit and penned by the bible?s human authors. Such bibles cost more than general reading bibles. Unfortunately, most inmates do not have the resources to purchase such study bibles. These bibles are purchased from and shipped by the distributor, Christianbook, directly to inmates by way of the U.S. Postal Service.
Over the past three years, we have purchased over $11,000 worth of study bibles and this work, so far, has enjoyed phenomenal success. There are limits, however, as to what we can be done without the assistance of others. Without your help, it will be difficult to expand these efforts to acquaint inmates to the infinite forgiveness, grace, and mercy of Jesus Christ.
In addition, inmates in the Commonwealth of Virginia prisons are responsible for buying their own personal items, i.e., soap for washing, deodorant, tooth brushes, toothpaste, combs or hair brushes and similar items. When an inmate has no ability to purchase these items, he must go without.
To address this, we at Dreamcoat, a 501 (c)(3) charitable, nonprofit enterprise, has established this Mercy Fund to provide for these needs and to facilitate wider community support. Through our nonprofit status, whatever you can give qualifies as a tax-deductible charitable donation.
Go Fund Me can help enable wider support for this work through private contributions to the Dreamcoat Mercy Fund. We sincerely hope you'll help.
